(May 8, 2019, 3:55 p.m.) -- LBPD says in a release that a Los Angeles man was driving an allegedly stolen vehicle near Broadway/Alamitos at midday May 7 when he allegedly refused to stop, led LBPD on a pursuit, crashed into a vehicle near 3rd St./Temple Ave., killing its driver, Jessica Bingaman, 41, a Long Beach resident who worked for a dog daycare service and had six dogs with her, five of whom also died.

LBPD booked the suspect (who sustained minor injuries) on suspicion of evading a police officer, felony DUI, vehicular manslaughter, grand theft auto.

At midday May 8, Councilwoman Suzie Price sent a mass emailing, stating:

As you may have heard, our community lost a bright light yesterday with the tragic death of Jessica Bingaman and five of the dogs she had with her. My heart and prayers are with her family. We will beholding a candlelight vigil tonight in honor of Jessica at the intersection of 3rd Street and Temple Avenue. We will gather at around 7:30 PM.

Please spread the word to anyone who needs to be with their village at this time.
