(May 26, 2019, 11:45 p.m. text/front page breaking) -- On Sunday night May 26, fire broke out for a second time at the same commercial location in the 3300 block of E. 59th St. where a fire (reported a day earlier by LBREPORT.com) sent a large black smoke plume skyward and LBFD says it found drug processing equipment and chemicals.

LBREPORT.com has learned (and reported previously in connection with the first blaze) that a police investigation of the first fire is being handled by the LAPD's Impact team ("Los Angeles Interagency Metropolitan Police Apprehension Crime Task Force.")

LBFD investigators were on scene again on Sunday night (May 26.) LBFD PIO firefighter Brian Fisk told LBREPORT.com that LBFD's determination of the cause of the second fire likely won't be known for at least a day so.

In connection with the first blaze, LBFD said it "discovered drug processing equipment and chemicals" at the scene and a Haz-Mat unit responded. The blaze produced a very large black smoke plume visible over much of LB and at one point escalated to a second alarm. LBFD says a man in his 30's was taken to an area trauma center with 40% burns.
