(May 26, 2019, 7:40 a.m.) -- LBREPORT.com was in downtown Long Beach (on a separate story) on Saturday May 25 at about 1 p.m. when we spotted state Senate candidate Jack Guerrero and supporters on Ocean Blvd. @ Pine Ave.

He spoke with anyone who'd speak with him and we were interested to hear what he'd tell prospective voters. We took our media ID off and he didn't recognize us (we'd met him only once briefly after a candidate forum) so we proceeded to ask him a few non-reporter type questions with our phone video recorder very visible in his face.

When we asked who his opponent is, he politely replied that it's Long Beach Councilwoman Lena Gonzalez, so we asked "what's wrong with her?" He didn't take the bait, didn't cite examples of her voting record (in our view an incumbent's voting record is ALWAYS fair game) and instead focused on his own campaign themes (lower taxes, better business climate, pension reform, education system changes (reforming teacher tenure rules, school choice [vouchers] for parents.)

We then introduced ourself and asked him a few news-style questions.

Candidate Guerrero's choice of location surprised us; if we were looking for high propensity LB voters 10 days before an election, it wouldn't be at Pine Ave./Ocean Blvd. on a Saturday afternoon.

If the Gonzalez campaign will let us know where she will be publicly and press accessible in the coming days, LBREPORT.com will be glad to show up with our camera rolling as we have a few questions we'd like to ask her.
