(May 10, 2020, 4:05 p.m.) -- At the same time as the City of Long Beach's Health Officer has allowed the re-opening of some some recreational activities (not beaches for swimming or sunbathing) and some "non-essential" retail operations (walk-up only), both with physical distancing requirments, the City's latest COVID-19 update (snapshot as of 12:01 a.m. May 10) reflects another Long Beach death (bringing the total to 44.) The City's figures indicate the person was in their 80s with an underlying health condition and the death was sssociated with a LB long term care facility.

948 LB residents (up from 931) to date had tested positive for the COVID-19 virus. Roughly 606 have recovered.
