(May 16, 2020, 1:30 p.m.) -- On May 16, 2020, the City of Long Beach issued a release conveying the following information:

  • 1,271 LB residents (up from 1,214) have tested positive COVID-19. The City release states: "Daily reporting of case counts continues to fluctuate due to heavy demand for testing (due to the wider scope of testing criteria) and backlog at various laboratories, causing delays in reporting."

  • Roughly 810 persons have recovered to date.

  • No additonal deaths (remains at 51.)

  • 61 people currently hospitalized (up five from May 15)
