May 19 Update: LB COVID-19 Reported Deaths Rise Nearly 20% (62 from 52, City Says Spans May 13-18); 48 Of The Deaths (22.5%) Associated With LB Long Term Care Facilities

(May 20, 2020, 7:55 a.m.) -- On May 19, 2020, the City of Long Beach released the following information:

  • 10 new COVID-19 deaths -- LB's death toll is now 62, up from 52. In a statement provided to LBREPORT.com, the City's Joint Information Center says the 10 deaths span a period from May 13 through 18 due to "delayed weekend reoporting" and one death only diagnosed after death. [May 15-18 spans Friday through Monday]]

  • 1,362 (up from 1,305) LB residents have tested positive to date for COVID-19; the City says roughly 877 have recovered

  • 58 people hospitalized (down from 63 a day earlier) (snapshot as of 12:01 a.m. May 19.)
