(May 8, 2020, 6:40 p.m.) -- In its daily update this afternoon (May 8), the City of Long Beach reported 898 LB residents to date have tested positive for COVID-19 (an increase of 28 from yesterday's 875.) Roughly 564 have recovered.

LB had two more COVI-19 deaths. One was in their 80s, the other was in their 40s; both had "underlying health conditions." Only one of the two (we don't know which one) was associated with a LB long term care facility.

50 persons are hospitalized today (up from 46 yesterday; the day before yesterday it was 49.)
