(May 11, 2021, 11:40 a.m.) -- A man was shot/wounded while standing outside his NLB home in the 400 block of E. 55th St. (CD 8/Austin). Coouncilman Austin's CD 8 has now reached the same level as Councilwoman Zendejas' CD 1 for the second highest number of shootings (wounding + fatal + no persons hit/casings found) since Jan. 1, 2021. Councilwoman Sarfo's CD 6 has the highest number of shootings since Jan. 1 among all LB Council districts,.

The shooting occurred Monday (May 10). LBPD Public Information Officer Allison Gallagher says in preliminary information that at about 8:25 a.m., officers responded to a local hospital regarding reported gunshot victim. "Upon arrival, officers contacted an adult male victim suffering non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the upper and lower torso [who] stated he was standing in front of his residence near the 400 block of East 55th Street when he heard shots and observed he had been struck by gunfire..."

He took himself to a local hospital where he was in stable condition. At this time, the motive for the shooting is unknown, no suspect information is available, and the investigation is ongoing.
