(May 31, 2021, 11:25 a.m.) -- Gunfire flew in the 6600 block of Olive Ave. (CD 9/Richardson) about a block east of NLB's new "Uptown Commons" in the midnight hour today (May 31). LBPD found bullet casings indicating a shooting had occurred although no persons were reported injured.

LBPD Public Information Officer Brandon Fahey says officers responded to the 6600 block of Olive Ave. at about 12:46 a.m. and found evidence of the shooting but no person(s) hit. There's no immediate suspect information or motive; LBPD's investigation is ongoing.

It's the second shooting in the area in May. As previously reported by LBREPORT.com, part of NLB's "Uptown Commons" development -- a Starbucks at 695 E. Artesia Blvd. -- was struck by gunfire in the 3 a.m. hour May 11. Officers found evidence, including casings, indicating a shooting had occurred and also found shattered glass leading offices to believe it may have been a possible burglary. (The business was closed at the time and no persons were reported injured.)
