WLB Midafternoon Drive-By Shooting Santa Fe/Spring Leaves Man Wounded

(May 28, 2021, 11:15 p.m.) -- West Long Beach had a drive-by shooting at midafternoon Friday May 28 in the area of Santa Fe Ave./Spring St. (CD 7/Uranga.)

LBPD Watch Commander Lt. Shaleana Benson says officers responded to Santa Fe/Spring regarding a person-hit shooting; The victim (a man/adult) said two men (adults) in a dark colored SUV fired several shots at him. He sustained a non-life-threatening gunshot wound and was transported to a hospital for treatment.

No other victims were located. Detectives responded to assist with the investigation. The motive for the shooting is unknown for now and LBPD's investigation is on-going.

This midafternoon shooting comes a little over a week after a midday shooting on Santa Fe at 14th St. (CD1/Zendejas) in which 3 men (adults) exited a vehicle and opened fire on two men (adults) walking on the sidewalk. The victims weren't struck; the suspects got back in their car and fled the scene.
