(May 17, 2021, 11:25 a.m.) -- LB's 4th Council district (Supernaw) had a shooting in the 3 a.m hour this morning (May 17) with the victim wounded inside a business in the 4100 block of E. Willow St. (between Lakewood Blvd,. and the "The Grand.")

LBPD Public Information Officer Brandon Fahey says:

  • On May 17 at about 3:34 a.m., officers were sent to the 4100 block of East Willow Street regarding a reported assault with a deadly weapon and found a man (adult) suffering from gunshot wounds. "Through their preliminary investigation, officers determined the victim was inside a business [4105 E. Willow, Extended Stay America] and was involved in a dispute with an unknown suspect(s) that escalated to a shooting; the suspect(s) fled the scene prior to officers arrival." LBFD transported the victim to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and officers found evidence, including bullet casings, tat a shooting had occurred.

  • On May 16 at about 10:29 p.m., officers were sent to the 900 block of Park Circle (Drake Park area CD 1/Zendejas) regarding reports of shots fired. "Through their preliminary investigation, officers determined an unknown male suspect fired shots and fled the scene on foot prior to officers arrival. Officers located evidence, including bullet casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. At this time, no victims have been reported, and the motive for the shooting is unknown."

  • On May 16 at about 10:20 p.m., officers responded to the 1000 block of East 10th St. (border CD 1/Zendejas and CD 6/Saro) regarding reports of shots fired. "Upon arrival, officers observed a multi-unit residence struck by gunfire and contacted a male adult victim who stated he was inside his residence when he heard shots nearby and observed his residence had been struck by gunfire." No injuries reported; no suspect information available; motive for the shooting is unknown.

    Since Jan. 1. Councilwoman Suely Saro's 6th district has had more shootings (fatal + wounding + casings/strike marks found) than any other LB Council district. Councilwoman Zendejas' CD 1 is second.

Earlier in the 7 p.m. hour of May 16, officers dealt with an alleged negligent discharge of a firearm inside a residence in the 4000 block of Falcon Avenue. "Upon arrival, officers contacted a female adult suspect at her residence and located evidence, including bullet casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. Through their preliminary investigation, officers determined the suspect negligently discharged a firearm from inside her residence and subsequently arrested her. A 45 year old woman was booked on suspicion of one count of suspicion of discharging a firearm in a negligent manner. No injuries reported; bail set at $35,000.
