(May 13, 2021, 5:35 a.m.) -- Tito Uranga, the youngest son (in his 30's and father of a 4 yr old son) of LB political figures Roberto (incumbent LB Councilman) and Tonia Reyes Uranga (former LB Councilmember) is battling an extremely rare type of cancer. It has metastasized and he's undergoing treatments at UCLA aiming to kill and push back as many cancer cells as modern medicine allows.

When one family member has cancer, the entire family has cancer, and family friend (and LBCC Trustee) Herlinda Chico has launched a Go Fund appeal to help Tito's family. It can be read in full and speaks for itself at this link and below.

We are separately aware that retired LB Vice Mayor/Councilman Val Lerch is currently battling a stubborn malignancy There's no "Go Fund Me" page for him, but in April he wrote on his Facebook page: "After kicking the cancer twice last year. It has come back. I start radiation tomorrow. I will kick its ass again. I ask for everyone's prayers and thoughts to help me beat the SOB again. Come on Long Beach pray for me."

LBREPORT.com has regularly sandpapered these political figures, but what they're facing transcends politics, That was so when Councilman Uranga himself adjourned a December Council meeting in memory of his frequent political antagonist, taxpayer advocate Tom Stout.

We wish Tito Uranga, Val Lerch and their families the physical and mental strength required daily to face and fight this scourge.
