(November 29, 2018) -- Updating a tragic story recently reported by LBREPORT.com, LBFD PIO Firefighter Jake Heflin says investigators have concluded that the cause of the Nov. 26 fire in a townhouse-style unit on 38th Place in Belmont Shore was accidental with contributing factors of home oxygen use and smoking.

As previously reported, a woman was trapped in the blaze, rescued by LB firefighters but didn't survive.

PIO Heflin tells LBREPORT.com that the woman had limited mobility, used oxygen apparently around the clock, was mostly confined to bed and needed assistance moving. Her husband was in another room, heard an alarm, tried to get her out but was unable to do so.

As of dawn November 29, the Coroner's office hadn't released the name of the deceased.
