(November 1, 2018. 6:30 p.m.) -- As of Oct. 25, the final scheduled campaign finance tally (with the exception of large contributions) before final votes are cast on November 6 indicates that as of Oct. 25: :

  • The Garcia-operated Mayor Robert Garcia Committee & City Auditor Laura Doud Committee to Support Good Government Measures AAA, BBB, CCC, DDD PAC reported $47,242 cash on hand (bolstered by recent $10,000 contributions from Edison Int'l & PG&E and a $2,500 contribution from Panattoni Development) with $96,919 in debts. In addition, on Oct. 29 the committee received a $2,000 contribution from the LB Firefighters Ass'n. The reported totals mean that barring any signfiicant changes, after the election some entities or individuals will likely be asked to give a sum totaling nearly $50,000 to the Garcia-operated PAC if it is to pay its outstanding debts (some of which were amassed when Garcia used the same PAC under a number name to mount a pro-Measure M [utility revenue transfer/diversion] campaign.) The group's other previous contributors can be viewed here.

  • The LB Reform Coalition Anti-BBB PAC reported $19,366 cash on hand with $220 in debts. The Reform Coalition's total was also bolstered by a recent wave of contributions between $100-$500 from ideologically diverse individuals and groups including retired LB Councilman/former Harbor Commissioner Doug Drummond, the Association of Long Beach Employees, John Passanisi and veteran community activists including Ann Cantrell, Gordana Kajer, Kerrie Aley and Joe Mello. In addition, on Oct. 29, the committee received an $8,000 contribution from Citizens About Responsible Planning (CARP's second contribution) plus a third $1,000 contribution from retired Councilwoman Rae Gabelich, increasing the Reform Coalition PAC's cash on hand heading into the campaign's final days. In just over two months, the newly formed LB Reform Coalition collected a sum unprecedented in recent LB political history to oppose a City Hall sought ballot measure (BBB term limits change): $35,992 as of Oct. 25, and with the recent CARP + Gabelich contributions totaling $44,992 as of Oct. 29. The group's other previous contributors can be viewed here.

  • A recently-surfaced (Oct. 18) Economic and Policy Impact Center's Committee to Support Equitable Governance Measures BBB & DDD PAC reported $10,000 cash on hand as of Oct. 25 from one contributor -- "Southern California Pipe Trades, District Council #16" in Los Angeles -- and said it was unspent with no outstanding debts as of Oct. 25. Its activities can be viewed here and here.
