(November 28, 2018, 10:55 a.m.) -- LBPD has impounded a vehicle allegedly involved in striking a skateboard rider (a man/adult) who was traveling eastbound across Bellflower Blvd. at 27th St. yesterday (Nov. 27.) LBPD says the driver allegedly fled the scene and says it has identified an 86-year old woman who lives in Lakewood as its suspect in the collision.
LBPD Public Information Officer Alvino Herrera tells LBREPORT.com this morning (Nov. 28) that the skateboard rider remains in critical condition and no arrests have been made. On Nov. 27 at about 1:45 p.m., officers were sent to the location and found a man lying in the roadway, who was transported to a hospital in critical condition. "Based on the preliminary investigation, it was determined the pedestrian was riding a skateboard and attempting to cross eastbound Bellflower Blvd. at 27th Street when he was struck by a vehicle that fled southbound on Bellflower Blvd. and the vehicle was described as a dark colored older model SUV," PIO Herrera said. LBPD asks anyone who witnessed or has information regarding the collision to contact Collision Investigation Detective Steve Fox at (562) 570-7110.
