(November 5, 2018, 3:35 p.m.) -- An L.A. County Coroner's autopsy report indicates seven gunshot wounds plus two grazing gunshot wounds took the life of Fred Taft, a 57 year old Long Beach resident attending a July 21 family gathering when he was murdered while using a restroom at ELB's Pan American Park.

An attached Coroner case intake report dated July 22 indicates LBPD collected six 9 mm casings. The Coroner's case report lists Mr. Taft's address in WLB [west of L.A. river, north of Willow St., east of Santa Fe Ave.]

The materials, provided to LBREPORT.com in redacted form by the Coroner's office, indicates Mr. Taft's autopsy was performed on July 31 followed by a written report signed August 27. The results show an espcially vicious killing: a gunshot wound to the head plus six gunshot wounds to other areas plus two described as grazing gunshot wounds.

Over three months later, the murderer remains at large...despite a total $30,000 reward offered for information to solve the crime and lead to the apprehension and/or conviction of the person(s) responsible.

On Sept. 4, the LB City Council approved a $20,000 reward (agendized by Mayor Garcia and Councilmembers Mungo, Andrews, Austin and Richardson for $10,000, raised to $20,000 on a floor motion by Richardson) for information to solve the murder of Mr. Taft. The Mayor/Council agendizing memo stated: LBPD "believes there is additional information available on the suspect that could be brought forward if a reward was offered. Additional details on the suspect could be valuable to the investigation."

L.A. County Supervisor Janice Hahn's agenda item approved a $10,000 reward [agendized motion text] "in exchange for information leading to the apprehension and/or conviction of the person(s) responsible for" Mr. Taft's death.

LBREPORT.com urges anyone who has any information that could help solve this horrific crime and bring the person(s) responsible to justice to contact LBPD without further delay.
