(Nov. 12, 2019, 4:05 p.m.) -- The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office has charged the Los Cerritos triple-fatality driver with three counts each of murder and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated (including an allegation of causing the deaths of the three-member Awaida family.)
If convicted as charged, defendant Carlo Adrian Navarro, 20, of Long Beach, faces a possible maximum sentence of 45 years to life in state prison. On the evening of Oct. 31, LBPD arrested and booked Navarro on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter after the SUV he was driving struck (and ultimately killed) the Awaida family -- father Joseph, mother Raihan and three-year old son Omar -- as they walked in a Los Cerritos neighborhood. Defendant Navarro will be arraigned on the charges tomorrow afternoon (Nov. 13.) Further to follow. Continuing coverage on LBREPORT.com |
