(November 28, 2020, 9:05 a.m.) -- Long Beach had two shootings yesterday (Nov. 27) in less than three hours within a few blocks of each other in Central Long Beach.

The first was in LB's 6th Council district (where voters removed incumbent Dee Andrews on November 3, 2020. The second was in LB's 1st Council district where voters elected Mary Zendejas in November 2019. Residents and businesses in the two mainly working class Council districts continue experience disproportionate numbers of shootings, the highest numbers in the city in woundings + fatal + casings found/no persons hit since June 1. (LBREPORT.com has editorially called these conditions a chronic inequity, a "tale of two cities.")

LBPD Public Information Officer Lt. James Richarson tells LBREPORT.com:that at about 6:45 p.m. on November 27, officers responded to a reported shooting and found a man shot/wounded -- and stabbed -- in the area of Long Beach Blvd./19th St. LBPD located a crime scene but the victim had minimal suspect information.

About two and a half hours later in the 10 p.m. hour and few blocks south and east in the area of 16th St/Linden Ave., a man (adult) told LBPD he was driving with a woman (adult) and two young children when he heard what sounded like a gunshot. He later found his vehicle had been struck by gunfire. He contacted LBPD and officers found casings in the area, but the victim didn't see who fired the shots. No persons were hit.

A third shooting also occurred somewhere in Long Beach; a man (adult) showed up at a local hospital with gunshot wound but didn't give police a good location for the crime scene. .
