(November 21, 2020, 5:30 a.m.) -- Below is a summary and a link here to the full text of the City of Long Beach's updated Safer at Home COVID-19 order, effective at 10 p.m. tonight (Nov. 21,) It aligns with State and L.A. County orders, and is basically the same as LB's March 2020 Safer at Home lockdown but only in effect from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. (basically an overnight curfew on multiple activities.)

If COVID-19 cases continue to rise, the City of LB said in a Nov. 19 release that it "will continue to monitor data and consult with Los Angeles County on any possible future restrictions to the Safer at Home Health Order." In recent days, LA County Health Officer Barbara Ferrer, Ph.D has raised the possibility of returning to a full lockdown if COVID-19 cases continue to rise.

In a summarizing release, the City of LB states:

[City of LB release Nov. 20 text]...Except as otherwise authorized in the Health Order, this curfew will affect all sectors, businesses and activities that are not designated an Essential Business, Essential Infrastructure or a Healthcare Operation. This includes: Lower-Risk Businesses (such as non-essential retail, limited services and activities, drive-in operations) and Higher-Risk Businesses (such as restaurants; gyms and fitness facilities; museums galleries and aquariums; personal services; nail salons; hair salons and barbershops; family entertainment centers).

This Health Order does not prevent people from leaving their home, lodging or temporary accommodation between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. to engage in critical activities, such as going to work, grocery shopping or walking a dog, as long as they do not engage in any interaction with (or otherwise gather with) any number of persons from any other household...

With few exceptions, the restrictions require face masks for everyone leaving his/her residence.

"A face covering is required over both your nose and mouth whenever you leave your place of residence" unless limited exceptions apply. Exceptions include "persons traveling in a car alone or solely with members of their household...people who are working in an office or a room alone...Persons who are actively eating or drinking provided that they are able to maintain a distance of at least six feet away from persons who are not members of the same household or residence [and] Persons who are outdoors and maintaining at least six feet of physical distancing from others not in their household. Such persons must have a face covering with them at all times and must put it on if they are within six feet of others who are not in their household."
