(November 6, 2020, 7:15 a.m.) -- LB election results updated at the end of the Nov. 5 business day by the LA County Registrar-recorder haven't changed the outcomes of LB Council races (with margins of roughly 54%-46% in CD2 to 59%-40% in CD 6) and the initial vote leaders for a LB School Board seat (Erik Miller) and an LBCC Board of Trustees seat (Herlinda Chico) pulled slightly further ahead of their ballot opponents (Tonia Reyes Uranga and Dick Gaylord).

However the LA County Registrar Recorder's office says in a Nov. 5 release that there are now MORE ballots uncounted (remaining to be counted) than it initially said a day earlier...and it's unclear how many of those uncounted ballots are from Long Beach. ..

The Registrar Recorder now says the estimated number of outstanding ballots to be counted is 791,200. On Nov. 4, the RR/CC said the figure was 618,200.

From where did 173,000 additional uncounted ballots come?

"This [new] estimate [of uncounted ballots] has been adjusted based on valid Vote by Mail ballots received in the mail today [Nov, 5] and the estimated number of ballots returned at Vote Centers and Official Drop Boxes on Election Day" says a Nov, 5 RR/CC release.

The new 791,200 estimate "includes Vote by Mail, Conditional Voter Registration ballots, and Provisional ballots at the Vote Centers..

  • Vote by Mail ballots: 693,000

  • Conditional Voter Registration ballots: 87,000

  • Provisional ballots*: 2,000

  • Misc. ballots**: 9,200
  • *Includes ballots received through USPS, early voting, and Drop Box
**Includes ballots that have write-ins, are damaged, need to be remade, or require further review

The RR/CC says it "will continue to accept Vote by Mail ballots that are postmarked by Election Day and received through Friday, November 20 (E+17). These ballots are not included in the preliminary estimate.'

In the most recent (Nov. 5) ballot tally:

    LBCC Trustee Area 4

Ms. Chico's vote margin has increased from 621 to 840 votes.

    LB School Board

    Herlina Chico17,29141.52%
    Richard "Dick" Gaylord16,45139.50%
    Lee Loveridge7,90418.98%
    Erik Miller12,12751.90%
    Tonia Reyes Uranga11,23848.10%

Mr. Miller's vote margin has increased from 605 to 889 votes.
