(Nov. 7, 2021) -- Long Beach had four shootings within a roughly 24 hour period (Nov. 6-7): one (casings found/no person hit) about a block northeast of the Museum of Latin American Art (CD1/Zendejas); another in northern Wrigley (CD 7/Uranga) with casings found/no persons hit) but an alleged prohibited possessor firearms arrested; a drive-by (road rage) in the 1700 block of Alamitos (CD 6/Saro) with vehicle struck; and two victims struck and wounded in the area of PCH/Pacific Ave. (CD 1/Zendejas-CD 6/Saro.)

LBPD Public Information Officer Allison Gallagher says:

  • On Nov 7 at about 2:11 a.m., officers were sent to the area of PCH/Chestnut regarding a shots call and found a man (adult) with a gunshot wound. Meanwhile, a second man (adult) took himself to an area hospital with a gunshot wound. Both victims were last reported in stable condition. PIO Gallagher says LBPD's preliminary investigation indicates officers found evidence, including casings, indicating the gunfire occurred in the area of PCH/Pacific where a possible altercation escalated to the shooting.

  • On Nov. 6 in the 11 p.m, hour, officers learned that a road rage incident had occurred with another driver who allegedly fired at the victim's vehicle in the 1700 block of Alamitos Ave. (CD 6/Saro) which was struck by the gunfire. Officers couldn't find a crime scene and their investigation is ongoing.

  • On Nov. 6 about 7:40 p.m. officers responded to a shots call in the 700 block of Cerritos Ave. (about a block northeast of the Museum of Latin American Art and "Gumbiner Park" (CD 1/Zendejas.) They found bullet casings indicating a shooting took place but were unable to find a victim or suspect.

  • On Nov. 6 at about 7:26 p.m. residents in the 3200 block of Oregon Ave. (CD 7/Uranga) reported hearing shots. Officers found evidence that a shooting had occurred and learned it stemmed from a dispute. Officers also found two firearms and detained a 30 year old man allegedly responsible for the recovered firearms, whom they arrested and booked on suspicion of being a prohibited possessor in possession of a firearm, plus possession of ammunition, plus an assault weapon and a parole violation.
