Man Is Shot/Wounded, Downtown LB, Area 3rd St./Pine Ave., 2 a.m. Attempted Robbery

(Oct. 11, 2018, 3:55 p.m.) -- A man (adult) was shot/wounded in downtown Long Beach -- the area of 3rd St./Pine Ave. -- in a 2 a.m. hour attempted robbery today (Oct. 11.) The victim fled, but one of the attempted robbers shot him anyway.

LBPD Public Information Officer Benjamin Hearst says that at about 2:04 a.m., an officer was flagged down in the 100 block of W. 3rd St. [near Pine Ave.] and officers located a man (adult) who'd been shot.

LBPD's preliminary investigation indicates two men (adults) approached the victim; they demanded his property; the victim fled; and as he fled one of the suspects pointed a gun at the victim and shot him.

The suspects were gone before officers arrived but were described as two male Black adults.

The victim was transported to a hospital with what's described as a "non-life-threatening" injury.
