(October 10, 2018. 1:45 a.m.) -- In a recipient committee report covering the period to Sept. 23-30, the "Mayor Robert Garcia Committee & City Auditor Laura Doud Committee to Support Good Government Measures AAA, BBB, CCC, DDD" (which Garcia renamed from his pro-Measure M committee which he renamed from his pro-Measure A committee) reported $59,330 cash on hand with outstanding debts of $20,306.
The lion's share of its debt -- $15,750 -- is owed to Fairbank, Maslin, Maulin, Metz & Associates and was incurred between May 15-19, 2018 during the Garcia-run campaign for Measure M (June 2018 utility revenue transfer/diversion) for services the committee's campaign filing described as "polling and survey research." In its campaign to persuade voters to support the Measure A (June 2016) sales tax increase, the Garcia-run committee used the same firm for the same listed services. [Scroll down for further.] |
The now-renamed Garcia/Doud "Good Government" Committee's updated list of contributors since September 2018 is now as follows:
LBPOA President James Foster tells LBREPORT.com (Sept. 30) that a July 9 contribution of $25,000 to the Committee from the LB Police Officers Ass'n PAC (roughly a month after the June Measure M election) was to help pay off some of the Committee's remaining debt/unpaid bills (listed as $39,863 as of June 30) from the Committee's Measure M campaign.
As separately reported by LBREPORT.com, a newly formed grassroots group -- the Long Beach Reform Coalition PAC -- reported collecting $20,294 cash and in-kind-services, with cash on hand as of Sept. 30 of $12,085 and a minimal debt of $220. The group, which has targeted Measure BBB for defeat, has a fundraiser scheduled this week.
