Walkers on the fairly slow, roughly two mile hike (dubbed a "Turtle Trek") will see wildlife (including hoped-for Sea Turtles along the San Gabriel River) as they learn learn about the wetlands' ecosystems, history and current restoration activities. The walk includes a stop at the Zedler Marsh which includes a nursery for wetlands plants as part of the restoration process. "Bring binoculars if you have them; besides the turtles, we will observe many different kinds of interesting wildlife," says LCWLT Exec. Director Elizabeth Lambe. The event starts at 8:00 a.m., and the parking lot gate closes at 8:15 a.m. No latecomers can be admitted. Events are family friendly, but strollers aren't permitted, and all participants need to be able to walk a couple of miles (slowly) without having to turn back.
