Thuderstorm Electrifies Long Beach, Lightning Visible Across Wide Areas

(Oct. 13, 2018, 11:10 a.m.) -- LBREPORT.com readers saw it coming on in-motion National Weather Service Doppler Radar embedded on our front page. A thunderstorm rolled onshore on Friday night Oct. 12, 2018 affecting wide portions of Long Beach.

In ELB, it caused a postponement in Millikan High's Friday night football game (Millikan vs. Cabrillo.) Below is video of the high voltage display as viewed from Palo Verde Ave. between Spring and Willow Streets. Video credit: Millikan Marching Band / Orchaband.

As the storm grew closer, school officials advised everyone to go indoors. Among those present for the football game was Millikan High alumnus (and former marching band member) Max Pearl (class of 2018), who captured this scene:
