(Oct. 24, 2018, 4:50 p.m.) -- In a release this afternnon, LBPD added this information to yesterday's fatal accident on E. Wardlow Road @ Gondar Ave.

The preliminary investigation revealed the motorcyclist, riding a black 2012 Yamaha Star motorcycle, was travelling west on Wardlow Road approaching Gondar Avenue. As he entered the intersection, he struck a white 2005 Ford F150, which was travelling eastbound on Wardlow Road and attempting to make a left to head north onto Gondar Avenue. It was determined the driver of the of the truck did not see the motorcycle as he made his turning maneuver.

The identity of the the motorcyclist, who is believed to be a 17-year-old resident of Long Beach, will be officially determined by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office.

The driver of the truck, a 30-year-old resident of Cypress, remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Neither drugs nor alcohol were considered to be factors in the collision, but the investigation is ongoing.

(Oct. 23, 2015, 3:07 p.m.) -- A motorcycle driver, described for now by LBPD simply as a male juvenile, lost his life in a collision with another vehicle in the noon-hour today (Oct. 23) on Wardlow Rd. just east of Woodruff Ave.

Below is the aftermath we saw in the westbound lanes of Wardlow Rd. at Gondar Ave.

Initial information is sketchy. LBPD Public Information Officer Benjamin Hearst says officers were dispatched at 12:15 p.m. and;found a male juvenile motorcyclist had been struck by a vehicle.

LBFD transported the young motorcyclist in critical condition to a hospital...where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. LBPD's investigation is ongoing. Further as we learn it.
