(Oct. 7, 2020, 1:45 p.m.) -- A transient (a 41 year old man experiencing homelessness) was stabbed to death at midevening Tuesday (Oct. 6) following what LBPD says was an altercation with one or more suspects in the area of Ocean Blvd/The Promenade.

In a release, LBPD says when officers arrived shortly after 8:50 p.m., LBFD was treating the victim; he was transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

"The preliminary information suggests a physical altercation may have occurred between the victim and one or more suspects, resulting in the victim being stabbed multiple times in the upper torso with a sharp object. Detectives do not have a description of the suspect(s) or last direction of travel...Detectives are actively looking for additional evidence and witnesses to determine a motive and identify a suspect(s)."

It's LB's 28th murder of 2020, and the second murder this month in LB's 2nd Council district (Pearce). On Oct. 1, a man was shot to death in the Rose Park area (west of Redondo Ave, south of 10th St.; police are investigating the shooting as possibly gang related.)
