(Oct. 2, 2020, 5:55 p.m.) -- As flashed on LBREPORT.com's front page and Facebook platform, a man was shot/wounded at midafternoon today (Oct. 2) in the 3400 block of E. 67th St. (area Artesia Blvd/Downey Ave.), somehow took himself or was taken by a private party to Fire Station 12 (Artesia/Orange) where LB Firefighters immediately began treating him for his wounds before transporting him to a hospital in critical condition,

It's the FIFTH shooting since July 2020 in neighborhoods along the Artesia Blvd. corridor paralleling the 91 freeway in Councilman Rex Richardson's 9th Council district. And the mainly working class neighborhoods experienced additional shootings in 2018 and 2019.

In today's (Oct. 2) shooting, LBPD Public Information Officer Allison Gallagher says that at about 2:50 p.m. officers responded to the 3400 block of E. 67th Street regarding a shots call and learned while en route that LBFD transported the victim (a man/adult) to a hospital in critical condition. LBREPORT.com has separately learned that the victim somehow arrived (unclear if self-transported or taken by others) to Fire Station 12 (Artesia/Orange) where LB Firefighters immediately began to treat him.

LBPD says that through their preliminary investigation, officers determined that a man (adult) shot the victim with motivation currently unknown...and the suspect fled the scene prior to officers arrival.
