(Oct. 1, 2020, 1:45 p.m.) -- LB's 1st Council district neighborhood between Pacific Ave. and LB Blvd south of PCH (Councilwoman Zendejas) heard midnight gunfire today (Oct. 1) as a man was shot/wounded. An LBPD containment perimeter netted the arrests of two suspects -- juveniles from Gardena and Hawthorne -- in the area of PCH/Pine Ave. (At about the same time, LBPD was dealing with a Rose Park area shooting that ended up fatal. LBREPORT.com coverage here.)

LBPD PIO Arantxa Chavarria tells LBREPORT.com that officers responded to the 1700 block of Linden Ave. at about 12:35 a.m. after a calling party reported gunshots in the area. Officers found a man (adult) had gunshot wounds; police established a containment perimeter and arrested two juveniles in the area of E. PCH and Pine Ave.

The suspects are identified as a 15 year old Gardena resident and a 16 year old Hawthorne resident. "The 15-year-old was booked for one count [on suspicion of] attempted murder, one count of participating in a criminal street gang, one count of carrying a loaded firearm, one count of providing a false identity to a peace officer, and one count of loitering in public after 10:00 pm." .

The 16-year-old was booked for one count of attempted murder, one count of participating in a criminal street gang, and one count of loitering in public after 10:00 pm.

LBFD transported the victim to a hospital with what are described as "non life threatening" injuries.
