(Oct. 3, 2020, 5:15 p.m.) -- In the SIXTH shooting since July along NLB's Artesia corridor -- this time just blocks from NLB's newly homeless housing faacility and down the street from NLB's "Uptown Commons" commercial development, a man was shot/wounded in broad daylight at midmorning today (Oct. 3) in the 6700 block of Myrtle Ave.

LBPD Public Information Officer Juan Gomez tells LBREPORT.com that at about 10:45 a.m., officers responded to the 6700 block of Myrtle Avenue regarding a shooting and found a man (adult) suffering from gunshot wounds to his lower extremities. LBFD transported the victim to a hospital with what are described as "non-life threatening injuries."

The suspect fled the scene prior to officers arrival and LBPD's investigation is continuing.

The shooting comes a little over 24 hiours after a man was shot/wounded on Oct. 2 in the 3400 block of E. 67th St. (area Artesia Blvd/Downey Ave.)

By way of context:

  • Aug. 3, 2020: Man shot/wounded in 3000 block of E. 68th St. (north of the 91 freeway at roughly Paramount Blvd.)

  • July 24, 2020: Man is shot/wounded in the 3300 block of E. 67th St. (north of Artesia Blvd./adjacent to the southern side of the 91 freeway between Paramount Blvd./Downey Ave.)

  • July 9, 2020: A drive-by shooting in the 3300 block of E. 65th St. (south of Artesia Blvd) narrowly miaaws hitting a man and a woman seated in a car near Ramona Park.

  • July 6, 2020, man ia shot/wounded along the Artesia Blvd.corridor near Paramount Blvd. in the Ramona Park area (just blocks south of Artesia Blvd. near Paramount Blvd.)

And neighborhood residents have experienced multiple shootings in the past two years:

  • Jan. 31, 2019: Area 67th St./Paramount Blvd: shots fired at two victims, misses them, damages vehicle
  • (October 29, 2018: Gunfire damages vehicles but no person(s) hit last night just south of the 91 freeway between Paramount and Downey Aves.)
