(Oct. 20, 2020, 12:10 a.m.) -- A bicycle rider was struck by a vehicle on Spring St. near Los Coyotes Diagonal (sending the bicyclist to a hospital) after which the vehicle driver allegedly fled but returned on foot to tell officers he was the vehicle driver...and was arrested on suspicion of DUI.

LBPD Public Information Officer Brandon Fahey says a 26 year old man was riding his bicycle on westbound Spring. St. near LCD on Oct. 18 at about midnight when a vehicle struck him and the suspect vehicle fled. LBFD transported bicycle rider to a local hospital and while offficers conducted their investigation, a man (adult) approached the scene on foot and indicated he was the driver of the vehicle that struck the victim.

LBPD arrested the 45 year old Lakewood resident and booked him on one count of suspicion of felony DUI.
