(Oct. 31, 2020, 12:15 p.m.) -- On March 2, 2020. LB Mayor Robert Garcia used his "Garcia for Lt. Governor 2026" campaign account to give $800 -- on the same date -- to the campaign to re-elect LA County District Attorny Jackie Lacey and simultaneously to the campaign of her opponent, former SF DA George Gascon.
In early October, LA Mayor Eric Garcetti announced that he was switching from endorsing Ms. Lacey to supporting Mr. Gascon. On Oct. 29, Garcia Tweeted that he and his spouse voted for Gascon. "Matthew and I voted for George Gascon for LA District Attorney.George is a fellow Long Beach State alum and he and his family live right here in our city. I’ve gotten to know George this last year. He’s compassionate and he’s committed to justice, racial equity, and reform."
Garcia made no mention of his previous financial support for both incumbent DA Lacey and her opponent Gascon. [Scroll down for further.] |
