The defendant didn't enter a plea at his arraignment today, which will be postponed until December. If convicted of 2nd degree murder, he faces a possible sentence of from 15 years to life in prison.
Prosecutors will have the burden of proving every element of the offense charged beyond a reasonable doubt. The defendant is innocent unless and until proven guilty of that offense or potentially of a lesser charge.
