LBCC Board of Trustees To Vote Oct 13 On Whether To Require Proof of COVID Vax For Staff and Students

OCT 13 UPDATE: LBCC Bd of Trustees Chair Ntuk Announces This Item And Two Other COVID Related Items Will Be Held Over To Special Meeting Next Thursday

(Oct. 12, 2021, 10:40 a.m.) -- LBCC's elected Board of Trustees is scheduled to vote Oct. 13 on a policy resolution that would require proof vaccination for all LBCC staff and students.

The policy resolution proposes that LBCC employees and students who don't submit proof of vaccination will be excluded from campus unless they have an exemption or other accommodation required by law. Deadline for LBCC staff compliance is Jan. 1, 2022. Deadline for LBCC students is Feb. 7, 2022.

The agendized proposed action is visible here. It recites in pertinent part:

For all District employees :

A. All employees, regardless of current work assignment, must submit proof of vaccination no later than January 1, 2022.

B. All employees must also provide proof of vaccination booster doses if and when public health authorities, including the CDC, the California Department of Public Health (“CDPH”), or the County Department of Public Health, indicate that a COVID-19 vaccine booster is necessary based on the COVID-19 vaccine that the employee received and the date upon which they became fully vaccinated.

C. Employees will be excluded from campus and deemed absent without leave if they have not submitted proof of vaccination, unless an exemption or other accommodation as required by law has been authorized. ...

For all District students

A. Effective February 7, 2022, the start of the spring semester, students will be allowed to attend classes and/or receive in-person services on campus only if they have provided proof of vaccination, unless an exemption or other accommodation as required by law has been authorized.

B. Students will be excluded from campus if they have not submitted proof of vaccination and will be considered absent from class without excuse, unless an exemption or other accommodation as required by law has been authorized.
