Man Is Shot/Wounded In Possible Attempted Robbery, 1st/Atlantic

(Sept. 11, 2020, 3:45 a.m.) -- A man (adult) was shot/wounded on Wednesday night Sept. 9 in a possible attempted robbery in the area of 1st St./Atlantic Ave. (2nd dist/Pearce.)

LBPD Watch Commander Lt. Gary DePhillippo says (preliminary information) that at about 10:45 p.m., officers were sent to the area of 1st Street/Atlantic Avenue regarding a possible shooting; witnesses jeard multiple gunshots and said two male Black adult suspects, armed with a firearm, appeared to be attempting to commit a robbery. Suspects described as 5'8"-5'10", wearing grey sweaters; officers located potential video evidence, but no victims or suspects.

"A short time later, officers were dispatched to assist LBFD responding to a shooting victim in the 700 blk of 60th Street, who said it occurred 'somewhere in the downtown area.' The victim (man/adult) was transported to a hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound...Through their investigation, officers determined the two events were related. Gang detectives were notified...the investigation is ongoing."

A little over twelve hous earlier, a man was shot/killed in what police believe was an attempted robbery three blocks north in the areqa of Atlantic Ave./4th St. (LBREPORT.com coverage here.) LBPD has arrested three suspects in connection with the Sept. 10 homicide. It hasn't indicate whether it believes the two attempted robberies are related.
