(Sept. 8, 2020, 9:45 a.m.) -- Following up on a story reported (first again) by LBREPORT.com, we have learned that that the FY21 proposed city budget includes a $6,897 raise for City Auditor Laura Doud.

In response to our inquiry, City Public Affairs Officer Kevin Lee tells LBREPORT,com that City Auditor Doud's budgeted base salary inclufrd is $234,383.23. (The "fully loaded" cost with benefits, pensions etc. is $351,940.62.)

The FY 20 budget (adopted by the Council in Sept. 2019) shows her FY20 budgeted salary was $227,486, and included s raise of $8,057 from Doud's FY 19 salary of $219,429,

A journalistic "W" is still missing: "Who" suggested/decided on the amount of the proposed budgeted raise(s)? The City Auditor herself? City management? (The Auditor doesn't work for city management.)

In 2018, Auditor Doud assisted Mayor Robert Garcia in advancing Charter Amendment BBB which allows LB's Mayor and Council incumbents to seek third terms without having to wage a write-in campaign. (Two incumbents, Austin and Andrews, are now using his in seeking third terms.)

The FY 20 budget (adopted by the Council in Sept. 2019) was the first budget cycle following Measure BBB's passage (Nov. 2018).

The Council will ultimately decide her FY21 salary when it adopts a FY21 budget (as soon as tonight.) We've asked the City Auditor's office by phone this morning who suggesteddecided the amount of the raise. Indo pending.

Developing.
