(Sept. 14, 2020, 6:25 p.m.) -- LA County Supervisor Kathryn Barger, the current chair of the L.A. County Board of Supervisors (and the Board's sole Republican) said today (Sept. 14) that "the anti-law enforement rhetoric expressed by many elected officials, community leaders and others has created a toxic environment amid the time of civil unrest" making it damgerous for thsoe who are working to serve and protect us but for the communities that they are trying to proetct"

Supervisor Barger added: :"I said it over the weekend and I will say it again now: This must stop. Enough is enough."

Below is the pertinent portion of Supervisor Barger's statement made during LA Councy's daily webcast briefing (mainly but not exclusively deals with COVID-19.).

Supervisor Barger..."I was horrified to see the chilling account of the two young [Sheriff] deputies ambushed while stationed outside the MLK Transit Center in Compton. The reports of protesters chanting and jeering outside the hosopital are even more disturbing as the deputies were in critical condition inside....

"...The events this weekend have made it clear to me that the anti-law enforement rhetoric expressed by many elected officials, community leaders and others has created a toxic environment amid the time of civil unrest. Not only is this damgerous for thsoe who are working to serve and protect us but for the communities that they are trying to proetct.

"I said it over the weekend and I will say it again now: This must stop. Enough is enough. I will do whatever is needed ot end the damaging rhetoric in order to restoring comopassion and peace to our communities."

As events developed, LASD said in a Tweet that protesters showed at the Lynwood hospital, allegedly blocking the entrance/exit to the hospital emergency room and yelling "We hope they die" (referring to two ambushed Sheriff deputies.)
