(Sept. 27, 2020, 3:45 p.m.) -- A Long Beach woman associated with Caravan for Justice {group critical of police actions) was arrested by the Orange County Sheriff's Dept. on Sartuday for allegedly driving a vehicle into a crowd (following an OCSD dispersal order) at a Sept. 26 protest/counter-protest. Her vehicle struck two individuals, sending them to a hosptal with what OCSD describeas major injuries they are expected to survive.

OCSD says it arrested the driver of the vehicle, Tatiana Turner, 40, of Long Beach on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. Circumstances of exactly what happened aren;t immediately clear and will likely be disputed.

OCSD says in a release that it learned over a week ago that Caravan for Justice planned the protest, and shortly after, it learned a counter protest was planned for the same time. The Sept. 26 event resulted in altercations between the two groups. OCSD declared an unlawful assembly and ordered particiants to leave. In a release, OCSD says "after several dispersal orders, a vehicle in the parking lot of the Yorba Linda Public Library at 18181 Imperial Highway struck at least two individuals. The driver, believed to be part of the Caravan for Justice, continued to leave the parking lot and was detained a short distance away from the incident. The two people struck, a man and a woman believed to be at the protest, were transported to a nearby hospital with major injuries but are expected to survive."

Caravan for Justice's Faebook page is private (only members can see who's in the group and what they post) and the group has four administraors, including Ms. Turner. The group publicly describes itself as based in Long Beach and "dedicated to the next level of progression in our fight for equality and justice. We want to educate and rejuvenate the community so real change can come. Now that we've made noise, what do we do next? We can't let our cries for justice go in vain! Now we must begin the boycott! Boycott businesses and foundations that support and fund corrupt police departments! Blackout businesses until they put pressure for reform. The biggest change we need to make is the shoot to kill policy! This policy must change! It's time to organize, strategize, and use their own system against them! No justice no peace..."

In a Sept. 26 release, OCSD states:

On September 17, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department became aware of a protest planned in the city ofYorba Linda for today at 2 p.m. by a group called Caravan for Justice. Shortly after, a counter protest was planned for the same time. Deputies were present at the beginning of the protests to protect the constitutional rights of all individuals and to protect life and property. Just after the beginning of the protests, it is estimated there were approximately 150 individuals total.

Approximately 30 minutes after the protests began, we began to receive reports of physical altercations occurring between the two protest groups, including at least one individual who was pepper sprayed by another protestor. At that time, the crowd grew to approximately 250 protestors. Due to the physical altercations and reports of individuals within the crowd having weapons, an unlawful assembly was declared and a dispersal order was issued. One man, Jason Mancuso, 46, of Anaheim, was arrested for failure to obey the dispersal order.

At approximately 3 p.m. after several dispersal orders, a vehicle in the parking lot of the Yorba Linda Public Library at 18181 Imperial Highway struck at least two individuals. The driver, believed to be part of the Caravan for Justice, continued to leave the parking lot and was detained a short distance away from the incident. The two people struck, a man and a woman believed to be at the protest, were transported to a nearby hospital with major injuries but are expected to survive.

The driver, Tatiana Turner, 40, of Long Beach, was arrested. She will be booked into the Orange County Jail for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, and the investigation is ongoing...
