Follow the Money: See Who Gave Sums And In What Amounts To Put These Candidates On LB's City Council From 1st District...Where One Of Them Will Cast Votes On Spending And Developments Impacting Taxpayers And Neighborhoods Citywide
LBREPORT.com is reader and advertiser supported. Support independent news in LB similar to the way people support NPR and PBS stations. We're not non-profit so it's not tax deductible but $49.95 (less than an annual dollar a week) helps keep us online.
(Sept. 27, 2019, 9:45 p.m.) -- The individuals, entities and interest groups listed below gave $500 or more to support the candidates listed below seeking to become LB's next 1st dist. City Councilmember. In that position, they'll have the power cast votes on matters affecting LB residents/taxpayers citywide. L.A. County's Registrar/Recorder says vote by mail ballots began being mailed Sept. 26. "Election day" is November 5.
For summary purposes, we haven't itemized sources of contributions totaling less than $500 although all campaigns had several in this category. LBREPORT.com will cite some of the salient among them in subsequent coverage..
Although we list candidates below in the order of contribution totals, we don't suggest or imply that this necessarily reflects "leader(s)" or "frontrunner(s)." In a multi-candidate no-runoff race, in a likely low-turnout special (not regularly scheduled) election in a historically low turnout Council district, and amid elections that have produced unexpected outcomes across the country, we believe it would be foolhardy to predict the outcome of the upcoming 1st dist. race on contribution totals alone.
Elections matter and knowledge is power...and LBREPORT.com believes LB residents have a right to know who's giving money and in what amounts to put idividuals on the City Council whose votes will impact LB taxpayers and neighborhoods citywide. Quick summaries follow below, then scroll down to "follow the money."
