(Sept. 8, 2021, 4:05 a.m.) -- In the first of two Sept. 7 Long Beach shootings, LBPD Public Information Officer Brandon Fahey says a man (adult) was in his vehicle in the 1300 block of W. Willow St. (CD 7/Uranga) when it was hit by gunfire. Officers responded at about 2:51 p.m. and found evidence, including casings, indicating a shooting had occurred. No injuries were reported, no suspect info, no motive known. A few hours later, a shooting occurred in the 300 block of E. South St. (CD9/Richardson border with CD8/Austin). On Sept.5, Long Beach had three no-person-hit shootings in roughly 24 hours: southern Bixby Knolls (CD 7/Uranga) (person-to-car shooting 3300 block Atlantic Ave.; 1100 block of Obispo Ave.; and 1400 block E. South St. These three no-person-hit shootings followed a double homicide on Fri Sept. 3 in which a man and woman were fatally shot near the Bembridge House/Drake Park (CD 1/Zendejas.) |
