(Sept. 3, 2021, 8:25 p.m., updated Sept. 4, 4;35 a.m.) -- At early evening today (Sept. 3), a man and a male juvenile were shot/wounded at Market St./Orange Ave. in CD 8/Austin.

Initial information is sketchy, LBPD Public Information Officer Arantxa Chavarria says officers were dispatched at about 6:15 p.m. to Market/Orange.

UPDATE: Preliminary investigation indicates the victims were purchasing items from a fruit stand when more than one suspect approached them and fired at them.

An uninvolved vehicle was also struck by gunfire.

The suspects fled on foot prior to officers' arrival.

Both victims were taken to hospitals; their conditions last reported as critical but stable. [end update] haven't been confirmed. Detectives are on scene investigating.
