(Sept. 8, 2021, 4:05 a.m.) -- In the second of two Sept. 7 Long Beach shootings, LBPD Watch Commander Lt. Paul Esko says that at about 6 p.m. a shooting occurred in the 300 block of E. South St. (CD 9/Richardson border with CD 8/Austin.) A vehicle was struck by gunfire but no persons were hit.

A few hours earlier, a man (adult) was in his vehicle in the 1300 block of W. Willow St. (CD 7/Uranga) when it was hit by gunfire (casings found, no injuries reported.)

On Sept. 5, LB had three no-person-hit shootings within roughly 24 hours: 3300 block Atlantic, 1100 block of Obispo Ave. and 1400 block E. South St.

These three no-person-hit shootings followed a double homicide on Fri Sept. 3 in which a man and woman were fatally shot near the Bembridge House/Drake Park (CD 1/Zendejas.)
