Taxpayer Impacts Project (A Continuing Series)

Conditions In/Around PCH/Magnolia

If LBREPORT.com didn't tell you,
who would?
No one in LBREPORT.com's ownership, reporting or editorial decision-making has ties to development interests, advocacy groups or other special interests; or is seeking or receiving benefits of City development-related decisions; or holds a City Hall appointive position; or has contributed sums to political campaigns for Long Beach incumbents or challengers. LBREPORT.com isn't part of an out of town corporate cluster and no one its ownership, editorial or publishing decisionmaking has been part of the governing board of any City government body or other entity on whose policies we report.

LBREPORT.com is reader and advertiser supported. Support independent news in LB similar to the way people support NPR and PBS stations. We're not non-profit so it's not tax deductible but $49.95 (less than an annual dollar a week) helps keep us online.
(July 31, 2019) -- SUCCESS! LBREPORT.com is informed that the encampment below disappeared over the weekend July 27-28

On July 19, LBREPORT.com launched our our Taxpayer Impacts Project, writing that "we will report neighborhood and taxpayer impacting conditions experienced by residents that they have brought to the attention of City of Long Beach elected officials and non-elected city management and staff. LBREPORT.com will report actions by the electeds and city staff in response to the issues raised by taxpayers and (very important) results achieved or not achieved."

LBREPORT.com invites LB residents citywide to email us photographs and emails showing conditions they've brought to the attention of LB elected officials and the results to date. We publish successful outcomes as well as unproductive results. We hope initially unproductive results become succesful results but LBREPORT.com will report them either way. We update our text to reflect changes after our initial publication.

Feel free to share your photos and information with us (and invite your friends and neighbors to do so) at: mail@LBReport.com. Please include phone number(s) so we can speak with you.

Please don't send us photos you didn't take or use anonymized or fake screen names or claim you're afraid to say who you are because you think a Councilmember or City Hall may do some bad thing to you. On some issues that matters, but on visible taxpayer and neighborhood impacting conditions, LBREPORT.com believes taxpayers shouldn't flinch at showing and describing conditions they experience in their neighborhoods. .

(July 20, 2019, 6:50 a.m.) -- This TIP story comes from Robin Garcia, a taxpayer in LB's 1st Council district which currently has no Councilmember. A special election is scheduled in November 2019 to fill the Council seat previously held since mid-July 2014 by Lena Gonzalez (elected to the state Senate in June 2019.)

Ms. Garcia says the photo below (July 18) shows an encampment she noticed began forming in June. It's on private property at Magnolia/PCH.

Ms. Garcia indicates that LB's Multi-Service Center has been engaged, says it has done a fantastic job at keeping her informed and told her that the individual has refused help on five occasions. Code Enforcement has also been notified. Ms. Garcia has requested a meeting with 1st district Council office staff to discuss the matter.
