Ballots From Nearly Two Dozen Low-Medium Turnout Precincts Had Over 40%-50% (One With 62.5%) Of Their Mayoral Votes For Garcia

(April 20, 2014, updated April 21) -- Newly released election data show that in nearly two dozen mainly low-to-medium voter turnout precincts, Robert Garcia received over 40% to 50% or more of votes cast for Mayor. LBREPORT.com obtained the data from a publicly agendized City Clerk item seeking City Council certification of the April 8 election results at the April 22 City Council meeting.

In the ten-candidate field with five top contenders, Garcia finished first with roughly 25% of the vote citywide. Below are precincts in which he received 40% to 50% or more of the votes cast for Mayor:

Among the other leading Mayoral candidates, second place finisher Dunn had [April 21 update] 55% in one precinct (266A) [end update] and 47.1% in another precinct (138A, roughly Anaheim/PCH, Atlantic/MLK); fourth place finisher Gerrie Schipske had 47% in one precinct (307A, Studebaker Rd. north of Spring to El Dorado Park) and Doug Otto hit 40% in precinct 285A (Naples peninsula...where Dunn drew 35%) but we didn't see multiple precincts at those levels.

In the final citywide Mayoral results, Garcia had 25.24% (11,873 votes); Dunn had 22.61% (10,637); Lowenthal had 19.62% (9,227); Schipske had 15.29% (7,192) and Otto had 13.53% (6,363); five others divided the remainder.

The high percentage precincts for Garcia above accounted for a total of 1,406 votes.
