(Aug. 21, 2015, updated) -- LBREPORT.com is saddened to report the passing at a young age of LBPD Officer Brian Collete, who fought a brave battle with cancer. His fellow officers and co-workers paid tribute to him last night. Click to launch the VIDEOs below.

[Update] LBPD has webposted the following on its Facebook page:

Long Beach Police Officer Brian Collette passed away on August 20, 2015, after his courageous months-long battle with cancer.

Brian Collette, 42, began his career with the Long Beach Police Department in December 1995. Brian’s assignments included: all Patrol Divisions – North, South, West, East and Field Support; Youth Services Division as a DARE instructor; Emergency Operations Homeland Security Detail; administrative officer and SWAT technician; Explorer Program advisor; and Support Bureau Training Division. Most recently, Brian was assigned to the East Patrol Division.

Brian is survived by his son Kyle, 17, daughter Madison, 9, mother Connie, and father William. His father, William Collette, is a retired Long Beach Police officer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his honor to the any cancer society of choice.
