American Dream Sours For Cambodian Refugee As She's Evicted From Her Foreclosed Signal Hill Home; OccupyLongBeach Supporters Had Kept Vigil

Did you know you'll probably blow at least $68,982 dollars to power your home for the next 25 years. GO SOLAR With Ameco Solar, a SunPower Premier Dealer who’s been Solarizing Long Beach Since 1974 - WHO ELSE CAN SAY THAT?! GO SOLAR, SEE DONTBLOWYOURCASH.COM
(April 10, 2012) -- Surrounded by OccupyLongBeach supporters, Rachel New, a Cambodian refugee who thought she'd found the American dream, instead experienced foreclosure and this morning (April 10) was evicted from her Signal Hill home.

Ms. New was escorted out. There were no arrests. A locksmith changed the locks. About three dozen OccupyLongBeach supporters were on scene in the 8 a.m. hour. They chanted "banks got bailed out, we got sold out" and several comforted Ms. New (in photo below, second from the right).

A notice of eviction was visible on the property in the 2000 block of Freeman Ave. We're told that LASD Deputies arrived in the 7 a.m. hour...and were accompanied by a large contingent of Signal Hill police units.

Wells Fargo Bank told LBReport.com several weeks ago that it doesn't own the property; it is the trustee for the property owner...and indicated that the property is owned by a real estate investment trust. Ms. New said she had been trying to make arrangements with a loan servicing firm handling the proceedings but without success.

OccupyLongBeach had set up tents and conducted a round-the-clock vigil on the site. Spokesperson Sharon Cotrell told LBReport.com that in the process of supporting Ms. New, OccupyLB has learned much about foreclosures and evictions...and said this foreclosed property is one of many in the area.
