(Initial coverage April 11, 9:30 p.m., updated April 12, 5:20 a.m.) -- As flashed last night (April 11) on LBREPORT.com, a man was shot to death -- pronounced dead at the scene in the area of 7th St./Alamitos Ave. The area, on the border of the 1st and 2nd Council districts, is less than a mile up Alamitos Ave. from where the "Long Beach Grand Prix" will take place south of Ocean Blvd., and very near the Long Beach Museum of Latin American Art.
Red X's = murders 2011 to date; Blue X's = non-fatal shootings (of which we become aware) Aug. 2, 2011 to date In initial preliminary information, LBPD Public Information Officer Marlene Arrona says that at about 7:37 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of 7th Street and Alamitos Avenue regarding a shooting incident. Arriving officers found a man (adult) who sustained gunshot wounds. LBFD personnel responded...and the victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. It was unknown last night if the fatal shooting was gang related. At last report, the suspect(s) remains at large.
