(April 28, 2013, 9:20 a.m.) -- A report of a man with a gun in the NW portion of NLB progressed to an officer-involved shooting in the midnight hour in which the suspect was hit...and has died.
In a release, LBPD states: On April 28, 2013, at approximately 12:20 AM, Long Beach Police Officers were dispatched to a report of a man with a gun, in the area of Artesia Boulevard and Butler Avenue. (April 28, 2013, initial report 1:35 a.m.) -- A report of a man with a gun in the NW portion of NLB progressed to an officer-involved shooting in the midnight hour Sun. April 28. In very early preliminary information, LBPD Public Information Officer Sgt. Dave Marander tells LBREPORT.com that at about 12:21 a.m., officers responded to a call of a man with a gun in the area of Artesia Blvd./Butler Ave. (west of the L.A. River, NW of the 91/710 interchange). Sgt. Marander says an officer confronted the suspect and officer involved shooting occurred in which the suspect was shot by the officer. The officer is uninjured and the suspect, described as an adult male, was transported to a hospital. Further as we learn it on LBREPORT.com
