(April 30, 2015) -- This Saturday, May 2, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., is LB's free 4th Annual Lawn to Garden Tour with an opportunity to see -- up close and personal -- neighborhood homes that have installed water-conserving landscapes. This year's tour will showcase 29 drought-tolerant landscapes installed by neighborhood homeowners. It's a self-guided tour...and free...and homeowners will be present at each location to speak with you personally about their experiences during their garden's transformation (details below.) The LB Water Dept. says, "The turf removal program gives residents $3.50 per square foot, for up to a thousand square feet, to remove their front lawn and replace their landscape with drought tolerant and California-native plants. To date, Long Beach has converted almost 2 million square feet of residential and commercial turf to drought tolerant landscapes." [Scroll down for further.] |
