(April 19, 2016, updated 8:55 a.m.) -- An SCE outage -- that the utility says involved downed wires (no specifics on what led to that immediately available) darkened over 2,600 of its customers (accounts) at its height in parts of LB's Wrigley district and part of WLB -- impacting (our estimate) probably at least 4,000-5,000 persons (since many households have more than one person) -- on Monday night (April 18) into Tuesday (April 19.)
SCE spokesman David Song says the downed wires were in an area near Hill St. and Easy Ave....and the outage affected an area bounded roughly by Burnett St., Pacific Ave., PCH and Seabright Ave. Residents in the area reported receiving email messages from SCE initially estimating that power would be back up in the 9 p.m. hour...and then the midnight hour...and then by 5 a.m. |
Our figure of 2,600+ "customers" comes from SCE's website info when the outage was occurring in real time. LBREPORT.com followed the story while it was taking place, and our general practice is not to report outages in real time -- especially when they occur at night -- for obvious reasons: we don't want to alert bad guys the fact a neighborhood is dark and vulnerable at the time it's happening. (We apply this rule unless the outage is so widespread that it's obvious, as in last year's SCE outages downtown and in surrounding areas.)
If you were among those impacted last night, LBREPORT.com is interested in your experiences if you dealt by phone or email with SCE on this. Just email us at mail@lbreport.com; let us know if we can use your name of if you'd like to remain anonymous. [Scroll down for further.
